When a soul is full of joy, it laughs, it sings, and it creates an abundant life where it joins with others in love. It is one with all.
When a soul is full of fear, it may laugh, but it separates it self from all. It feels alone and spends time rationalizing and justifying so that it can feel apart of. It does not experience the oneness.
Here is the hard part. As the one who was laughed at, in order to remain full of joy, laughter, and song in your soul, you must find it within to forgive the one who laughed at you. Forgive them and love them, because they are alone and you have experienced unity with the Divine.
It may be that you need to first forgive yourself before you can begin to forgive the one who laughed at you. Ask yourself why did it hurt you so much? Why do you experience such pain, as it is only your perception that is hurting the soul - not the action of another? No one can hurt you with their emotions unless you are allowing it.
When non-judgment and compassion fill your soul, it is then that you can truly experience the peace with self and with the world.
